All vehicle rentals in Shropshire are governed by a Rental Agreement issued at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines key terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Shropshire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions can vary depending on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, customers need to present valid identification and proof of their current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Shropshire location. A booking deposit might be necessary to confirm your reservation. The total payment and a security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle collection. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely by trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting the vehicle, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed at this time. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was collected, considering normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel as at collection; refueling charges will apply if the tank is below this level. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, plus an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage

Additional insurance options may be available to help lower your financial risk. It is wise to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-road driving, or any other risky actions. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Subletting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it is not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Additionally, driving outside specified geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under Shropshire law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed exclusively by English and Welsh courts.
